COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKER

LINC is the only NGO working exclusively with women (cis and trans)

Bisexual and/or queer identity.

COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKER

ROLE OVERVIEW:

To develop the capacity of LINC as a national community organisation
through assisting in the delivery of the strategic plan, and the
development and provision of community-based health initiatives to
ensure best possible outcomes for the lesbian and bisexual women’s
community. This role provides the right candidate with an opportunity
for professional development and to create an individualised approach
to the role within the remit of Community Health.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

* An understanding of, and affinity with, the issues facing lesbian
and bisexual women and their families and an awareness of the lesbian
and bisexual women’s community.
* At least 2 years’ experience of working in a community
development capacity and a recognised and relevant third level
qualification relevant to the job description for this position e.g.,
Community Work/Community Development/Community Health/Youth and
Community Work/Health Promotion
* Excellent communication skills, written, presentation, oral,
networking and interpersonal skills
* A high level of proficiency in google software and MS Office
* programmes (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Support the LINC Co-ordinator and Board to ensure that the mission
and vision of , ensuring that the ethos, aims and objectives of LINC
are maintained and promoted through goal oriented design and delivery
of projects, initiatives and activities
* Develop work plan in line with the organisational strategic plan.
* Assist in the design and delivery of LINC’s LGBTI+ Diversity
Awareness Programme
* Provide confidential advice and advocacy to Lesbian, Bi and Queer
women experiencing health issues.
* Provide support to existing groups in LINC.
* Produce reports and evaluations when necessary.
* Engage in ongoing training and upskilling opportunities.
* Support LBQ women on a one-to-one basis
* Liaise with local, regional, and national LGBTI + organisations.
* To set up, facilitate and maintain groups/ supports/ information
sessions etc. in response to community needs.
* Identify and develop opportunities to build on existing services,
partnerships and resources in supporting the development of positive
health outcomes of other health and social gain programmes and
projects at local level from a community development and public
participation perspective.
* Liaise with relevant organisations, groups and agencies as
required
* An ability to work independently, to plan and prioritise.
* Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
* Capacity to work collaboratively as part of a small team.

CONTRACT: Full Time Fixed term - 2 years (possibility of extension
depending on funding)

PROBATION: 6 months
